I've seen tanks with built in glass boxes in the upper corners used for frags, small clams, macros, fish etc. Is there any benefit or downside to building something like this into a tank.

I personally don't like the idea of it being high in the tank, what happens when you buy low light coral, or you frag something from your tank that is low light. would you put it on the rack??

Said rack would be in a corner, which is a lower light area, right?
I would not build it in, make sure it is removable easily (i used magnets)

The idea is to have a place to put frags or whatever in your main tank but keep fish and other critters away from them. I guess basically this is just an in tank refugium used as a frag area

I'm not planning on doing this rite now but I've been looking at different tank designs lately because I'm going to upgrade at some point. I was in a shop in nj recently and they had this type of setup with its own lighting and flow sperate from the rest of the tank. I liked the way it looked and I liked the idea of being able to use it for other things like holding livestock or eggs or whatever
