So I am planning to take the risk and add a gold flake and a regal to my 350G SPS dominated reef.

I know that they like zoas and clams. I do not have many zoas and what I have I plan to take out. The issue is I have two clams and I absolutely love them. One is a blue maxima and other is a Derasa.

My question is, how would a deresa (8 - 9 inches) do in 40G breeder fuge? I like the benefits of filter feeding the clam adds to the tank. However my light is only a CFL on the fuge.

What do you people think? Will it do well under CFL? Do I need to upgrade to T5 or LED in my fuge?

Both the angels I have are awesome specimen. They eat everything I give them and have been in QT for 7 weeks now. I really want to add them to the tank. The goldflake is in my frag tank for 4 days and has not touched anything....

Please share your experiences...

had my Regal over a year...has not even looked at clams...

Thanks Albano, I knew you will chime in :). I was actually thinking to move the clam to the frag tank and also add the regal in there with the goldflake. However, The regal is bigger than the goldflake and I did not want to take a chance.

This is why I want to move the clam to the fuge if he can survive under CFL ...

I have a regal, majestic, flame, emperor and blue face in a 120 with a maxima clam and they never look at the clam. They do love zoas and acans though.

That is really encouraging :) I still want to play it as safe as possible..

I already have the goldflake in the frag tank with only SPS frags and he has not touched anything so far ...

Only problem i had with an angel in my sps reef was that i lost alot of polyp extension during the day. The coral learns to retract them during the day when the angel is active and nipping during the day. At night i had full extension, it took the removal of my angel in order to get PE back to normal during the day times

I have my emperor in a 180, he hasn't toched my zoos, acans, sps or even my clams. i once bought a "sick" elegance, and it was lunch. as long as they are well fed, and the corals are healthy then you should not have a problem but it still depends on the individual fish... gl

So reviving this discussion to get some more input. I have a awesome show size Aussie Elegance Coral. What is your take on the goldflake eating it? I can let zoa and clams go but I just don't want to move the elegance.

Do the Goldflake and Regal pose a threat to Elegance corals? I am looking for "known" threats.

Thanks
Sunny
