Hi Everyone,

All of my DT's were taken down over the course of the passed 2 weeks to make way for my next build.

I'm wondering if anyone has used any manufacturers of "hybrid" aquariums.

The tank I'm looking to have built will be 10'x3'x2'tall. Because of the fact that I don't feel like carrying an extremely heavy tank that is 100% glass, I'm looking for a hybrid tank that is mostly acrylic with a starfire front pane. I'm also not looking to do 100% acrylic because I know that I will scratch acrylic easier than glass.

I have a very tight staircase so I'm going to have to remove the railings on my balcony and setup a gantry to hoist it up about 15 feet off the ground and into my house which is another reason that I'd like to keep it light as possible.

I'm probably going to have to drop it off in my neighbor's backyard and remove a section of my fence to make it a little easier to even get it in my backyard into the gantry.

I'd love to get a Tree Service Co. to simply crane it in. That would probably be the safest and the quickest and I'm sure it would cost less than the beer and food that it'll run me to have my buddies offer up a hand. =) Anyone have access to a crane-bottom Huey?

So far I'm looking at A.G.E. but I'm wondering if anyone knows other tank builders that are capable of constructing a hybrid tank.

Thanks in advance!

I have two large acrylic tanks and they really dont scratch all that easy unless you are completely careless.

I just know me and how impatient I can be so in being honest with myself, I know that it probably isn't a great idea to go with acrylic. I have frag tanks and holding tanks that are acrylic and they scratch so damn easily.

I'm not completely against it but I'd like to at least get some quotes so I know what my options are and if a hybrid tank is even in the stars for me and more so, my budget.

From my experience, algae of all types clean off much easier from glass than acrylic. I haven't cleaned the front pane of my 210G glass tank in over 7 months... my CUC does it for me. My acrylic tanks on the other hand have to be cleaned often and they are part of the same system. I have CUC's throughout the acrylic tanks as well.

I'm sure that there are others that have experiences that are opposite of mine BUT this is what has been my experience.
