Just a general question

Hey guys so since I've taken down my calcium reactor for now and have been dosing by hand in order to keep my levels stable i just have one question is it okay to dose the alk all at once I've been doing it every morning I'm using the ESV part1 i don't currently have a doser and can't think of any other way to dose it any help would be cool guys thanks

Ive been just doing a cap a day of alk/cal and dumping it in my overflow. im sure IDEALLY the dip is best, but all at once doesnt hurt anything realistically.

Yes it is fine. I do it everyday and have done so for many ( 10+) years. Just make sure you pour it into a high flow area so it disperses quickly. Are you only dosing part 1?

same here every morning i dump 20 ml of alk and 20 ml of cal in front of my powerhead.

Yes it is fine. I do it everyday and have done so for many ( 10+) years. Just make sure you pour it into a high flow area so it disperses quickly. Are you only dosing part 1?

But I highly suggest dumping it in your overflow so it runs through your sump first to mix it.

Don't put the alk and calc in at the same time. They can chemically counteract each other. Dose them hours apart or maybe one in the morning one at nite you can put mag in at anytime with either

you dont have to wait hours to dose at all if you give it 5 minutes in between that's more then fine I've been doing it this way for the past 3 months with my biggest fluctuation being an alk from 8.1 up to 8.4

I been dosing the esv 2 parts my self about 5 mins apart, right by one of my mp40 and i never had a problem. But i have a doser now!

I can post supporting evidence against not putting alk and calc in at the same time.
I do not have any facts about how far apart, I said hours to be safe maybe minutes is acceptable.

As long as part 1 is completely dispersed, you can safely add part 2. If you are dosing in a high flow area as suggested that is like 30 secs. There is zero need to wait any longer than it takes for part 1 to clear.

What you want to avoid is the 2 parts mixing together either before or as they ht the water.

currently i dose part everyday and part 2 three times a week and this seems to keep my stats at 8.9 -9.3 for alk, and cal. 470-485 and my mag seems to stay between 1380-1410
