got him last week ,i was looking at him for like 20 minutes when i was going to tell the girl to get him for me she reached in the tank and got it for another guy.i walked over to another tank and saw another one i asked her to get it for me she told me the same guy bought it,there were 5 in the store and he took all of them,i was :banghead:.when he went to pay he said he didnt want to spend to much money so he let me have one:cheers:anyway he is doing real good he is a blue line surgeon

Nice fish, they have them at Max Reef over here by me and I wish I could get but I have enough tangs as it is. Btw, it looks to be an Acanthurus mata, common name Mata Tang

Yes if you put them in at the same time,I have him with a purple tang they are always together

Very pretty!! Wouldn't have mind getting the one at AV when I got the PBT, unfortunately I have to many tangs as it is. I wish I could upgrade to a much larger tank....

It's a Acanthurus Mata, common name Mata or Elongate Tang. It's a very large fish, it will get around 20". The one that you have is a Juv and it will get more color around the eye and head, yellow, over time. It's an aggressive fish, so you need to be careful with the other tangs and some other wrasse.

As I posted, they get about 20" but they're shape more like a torpedo or sardine can than some of the other larger tangs, which have bigger bodies. Do a search on the name and you'll find a bunch of pictures on what the full adult looks like.

i got him at total aquarium,he is doing great.he fell in love with my purple tang they are always together he has lots of personality,and i thought they would not get along
