I know there are probably millions of reviews and comments, but i figured i would share my experience. i have had mine for a few days now and i have to say I LOVE THIS THING. the fact that i was able to get rid of all my hydors and free up space for one pump is just awesome. i have been keeping it on NTM 24/7 and putting it in night mode every night and i think this is exactly how i am going to run it, i played around with all the modes but i don't think any of them compare to the NTM mode. and one last thing i read all the time about how noisy these things are? i totally disagree this thing is dead silent to me and its in my room. maybe people aren't setting theres up properly? or getting bad pumps who knows but i am totally pleased good job ecotech. i don't agree with the price tag but hey i am not going to complain at the same time either.

I agree with you man this thing is really cool. I've had mine for a few weeks now and I swear the water is clearer because of it. Btw, do you only like ntm bc of the waves it makes without you having to tune it? Bc I just discovered how to make waves just as big using the short pulse mode, without that annoying constant mode phase that causes a big hole in my dsb.

no i like the NTM mode because for my tank i see the current being suttle, to wave motion to harsh its like getting the best of all worlds, you kind of get that with reef crest mode but i feel like the reef crest only peaks at the top a few times. at least in NTM mode i get a solid bit of a time for each thing.

and yea i have sand dunes all over the place lmao but its settling down now, and stopped putting so much sand in the water column so i am ok with it. i was using night mode with it but the flow looks literally dead, so i don't think i am going to use night mode and just let it blast on 24/7

Ah. I hear you. And yeah I definitely know what you mean about night mode. The only reason I use it is because I feel like it lessens the wear on that little plastic shaft in the pump. When night mode is on the dry side is much cooler.

keep on reefin :groupflip

I've had a few mp40s and mp10's. they are excellent pumps. However I have had to send all of them in for repair at least once. Mp40's at least two times for the two units I had. Mp10's for dry side noise due to a bad bearing in the dry side. The company is excellent when providing repair service. I have never been without a pump for more than three days which is impressive. They work really quick.

well i am still having an issue with this thing kicking up all my sand and making my tank not cloudy, but is deff putting sand in the water column. its as high up in the tank that it can possibly go. i have it knocked down in power to its just seems inevitable because the sand is moving on the side that is opposite the mp40 so the flow is just traveling down the glass and pushing the sand away. any tricks or tips?

Then I believe its time to start playing around with other modes lol. Im not insulting you or anything, but I REALLY dont understand why you like ntm so much lol. Why not just find the perfect wave using short pulse mode, and when you decide its time to get that detritus out of your tank, turn on constant mode for a little then go back to short pulse and fix the sand? The pump is facing your overflow right?

Run it at 80% instead of 100%. I think like two blue dots are not lit and everything else is. Set the speed on the green mode and once it is at 80% set to NTM.

i already played with different modes. and i don't think any of them are comparable. reef crest mode stays at 50 percent almost all the time. what good is that? that 2 second spike at full power does absolutely nothing. plus i don't have an extra mp40 at the other end so if i keep it on the modes that are just doing constant flow and varying the speed all its doing is putting a big circle of flow in my tank. at least with the wave i get back and forth flow. and i like the surge at the end of NTM mode i just dont like the sand being moved but i guess its something i got to deal with untill i can buy another one to go on the other end which probably wont happen. also the booklet says NTM is the best for sps, i keep sps? so why not follow there directions no? just saying thats my logic behind it lol

oOo i have it as 3 leds not lit anymore then that the surge mode sends everything flying lmao. i love the pump but its obviously much better to have two but i unfortunately cant afford that.

Lol I feel you there in regards to having two pumps. I can only dream. And yea it does say its best for sps, the variation in flow seems like it would be good for sps. Have you tried moving it left and right as well as up and down? Is it already on the right side of the tank? I found it moved less sand on the opposite side when I had it facing my overflow box, i guess because part of the flow gets pushed into the overflow instead of into the glass.

yea unfortunately the way my rock scape is and the fact that i have a couple very established thriving pieces of sps directly in the middle of my tank where i have my cliff hanging rock, i cant place the pump directly in the middle. so its off to the left side that way theres no obstructions in the flow. i moved some stuff around and put a rock on top of where the sand was being blown around and it seems like it has settled down, only bad part is my gsp rock is now touching the glass so its probably going to cover my hole left side of the glass, but i am ok with that lol.
