Dosing should be done on a daily basis to yield the best results otherwise you are going to put your parameters on a weekly roll-coaster ride :(

How did you determine that your tank needs to be dosed? What are your parameters?

Why don't you feel you need to do any water changes to your tank?

Parameters I have no idea....
Water changes= time = I don't have much because of sports and school and some other stuff

Thanks guys!

Umm, in order to dose properly you have to calculate your usage by testing your water to know how much to dose. you need to know your parameters.

Dosing doesn't change the fact that you need a way of removing the nitrate and phosphates out of your tank and replacing other trace elements not in 2 part.

Water changes take me about 15 to 20 min a week once I had everything stream lined. It's not that time consuming. And I have a full time job at my business, and a newborn child.

Just my two cents. And I dose manually as well currently.

I guess the answer to your question is get kalkwasser or two part from brs and just pour it in with a paper or plastic cup is the cheapest.

you should get your priorities in order, if you decide you don't have time to take care of the live stock your keeping, then give it up. It's not fare to them.

Another thing to add, when dosing with a 2 or 3 part you still have the need for water changes unlike with a calcium reactor that uses media... Since he explained it clearly I will just post a past msg of his.

From boomer

"This is due to the continuos increase of the components of the 2-part that just accumulate over time, that have little use, namely the Sodium from the buffer/ Alk sup and the chloride from the calcium sup. One needs to due at least a net gal WC of 30% / m to keep these in check. You do not get this from reactor media, as it is aragonite, CaCO3, no sodium or chloride"

Ok koolaid you just started the hobby and i know other go without water changes BUt they know what they are doing. There are ways to have a successful reef tank without that being said your reef is not a beta bowl. The ocean is a stable environment and having the same water for weeks, months on end your animals will suffer. If you dont time right now for a aquarium maybe you should hold off till you are. Dosing mag,alk and cal is not the only key to success in this hobby and your wasting your time and money if you think it is.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll see what I can do but everything has been growing great for tr last two months but I just wanted to take it to the next level. I Definately wont be giving up on my reef since its flourishing and 5 years has allowed me to learn from my mistakes. Is there anyway I can add some type of supplement to my top off water in general. I could do water changes but usually I mess stuff up and my system has 0 phosphate and 0 nitrates literally all the time. I currently add strontium andolybeduum and trace elelments weekly and the captain Americas bid a new polyp 2 days after,

Kalkwasser is really easy, and you need to take care about it once a week only. You just need to plug a bottle containing it to the exit of your ATO pump, then to your tank. All you have to do weekly is put a bit of the dried product (Calcium hydroxide) in the bottle and shake.

Of course it is not as complete as a two-part. But it does a lot for little work.
