There's people who are using canister filters and under gravel filtration and a bunch of other methods who been keeping reefs for over 30 years only " ppl who say I'm a wis as is you and your boy who are trying to justify buyin expensive equipment. Do some research not everyone has to have all that stuff. I never had a casualty or any issues except a little hair algae once which I got rid of no problem using my " wise as noob methods" so honestly if you ain't got no useful inputs maybe this forum isn't for you.

Nitrates are at 20ppm . Not really high and its been this wy for over a year even in old tank so it's probably test kit or my live rock. Either way everything is doing great. Acans need nitrates too so I'm good but nice try. Again if you actually read what I say I mentioned I was thinking about a bio pellet but whatever. Again why do u post if you have no actual info to share. U got something to say to me personally PM me. Stop trying to look cool coz only one of us looks like a wis as and it's not the op. lol

If you don't believe you can keep a tank w only 5% water changes a week you my friend don't know what your talking about.

If I only had softies(or the 2sps corals)I can go a year without a water change with no worries..when you graduate from the beginner corals you have in your tank then talk..

Whats funny is i have over 25 fish in a 92 corner and i have .05 nitrates and all SPS but he knows more then i do. Good luck with your fan,jabeo, five dollar heater and fake LED lights. When you can either grow up and listen to reefers who have been in the hobby more then 2 weeks and stop being so confrontational maybe people will start taking you more seriously. And anyone that took his recomendation to buy jabeos pumps this is why you dont listen to everyone on a web site. You dont know if they know what they are talking about case in point. if your not going to run a skimmer dont even think about running bio-pellets
basically from what i gather of people saying is and i see it alot on here, is people with little experiance come on here and try to guide people on how to do this or that. and people dont realize that because it is alive doesnt mean it is thriving, ive kept brown sps for years lol but it was alive. and ive kept full blown sps tanks with crazy colors. i only tell people what i have used and tried and dont reccomend half of what ive tried even if successful. ive tried about every piece or type of equiptment under the sun.
i will agree that you can keep a tank with wc only if the tank is set up correct, but your not going to keep a full blown sps tank that has good growth and color on wc only, especially without some type of filtration, even with only 1 or 2 fish, jackson6415 is a perfect example
i dont always believe the most expensive is the best and could let alot of people in on the truth about skimmers. but i dont feel like writing a book, hmm maybe i should, my wife tells me to all the time. and the member thats 30 yr plus in the hobby doesnt keep tanks like most people and please dont try to compare his decades of experiance to what your doing. his tank isnt full of sps

Fake leds haha you wish do some homework. woohoo you have 900 fish and .05 nitrates your like the man bro yet you still havnt said 1 bit of usefull info or proved me wrong. I have SPS mushroom Acans zoas Palys feather dusters candy cane torches frogspawn inverts 2 fish and never had a casualty so far. So the only people who's advice I'm glad I didn't take is people like you. You probably think a car doesn't drive without a navigation system also. I will have fun in the hobby thanks chief. I might just win the tank of the year and use no filtration just to shut you up. Lol

Good point about the skimmer plus bio pellets. The goal of running bio pellets is to have the bacteria grow that eat the nitrates and then export that as well as the additional oxygenation that is required because that type of bacteria depletes the oxygen in the tank and without having a way to introduce more will kill your tank. So a skimmer serves two purposes when using bio pellets.

Either that or my tank crashes and everything dies then you can be the first to say you told me so... Oh that's right you didn't actually say what I'm doing wrong so you can't even do that. Basically all you proved so far by buying all your equipment your tank is at .05 ppm and me with nothing what so ever is at 20ppm. I think ill stick to my method for now. You can keep your $400 chalices and $400 sps colonies I'm happy w my setup. Stop hating on jebao lol btw. If I was rich I would buy your mp10 too probably but I'm not so I'm good w my wp25. So are thousands of other people. Why don't u go troll on their forums and call them wis asz for not buying the same equipment you have.

I dont know what magical expensive equipment you think duke has on his tank man...he's got a great fuge and a huge skimmer and does biweekly water change. Finally some good info now was that so hard? Lol I'm not confrontational and sorry if my question seem dumb to you but to me It's not dumb I'm just trying to learn. And I never said I'm doing a full out sps tank I'm just slowly picking up corals as I go and try to accommodate them properly as far as placement in tank and flow preferences. So far my mixed reef is doing good and colors and good so I don't see why I should buy more stuff. Obviously I would love a sump Refugium w some mud and chaeto and a sick skimmer but my tank is tempered glass and I can't drill it so I just work w what I got. But I'm not doubling that its better to have all the gadgets however it is possible to keep many corals w a " low tech" approach.

No offense monkeymak but you do sound arrogant. I'm not an experienced reefer yet either but demands on a tank increase when you have. More sensitive corals and larger colonies. Its premature to sound so arrogant.

I agree with you that you don't have to have all the name brand top end stuff to run a successful tank but as you go forward their benefits will be very helpful.

I didn't dose and kept a very simple system for the first year but when frags became colonies and my taste gravitated to more sensitive corals. Water parameters, temperature and everything needed to be on point and more equipment just made life easier.

They aren't necessary but makes life easier. We should all be humble even if we are in the hobby for years.
