Even though I know youre not interested in black sand anymore, I did hear that there was iron or something in some of the black sand brands that was indeed magnetic. Also I feel that with black sand your lights are less effective because theres less reflection..but that could just be me....good luck with whatever option you choose!

The magnetic thing is true, but i only learned that when i dropped the wet side of my mp40 on the sand. The magnet attracted pulled the sand that stood all around the rubber. I easily cleared it by rubbing my fingertips lightly over it. No big deal at all. If you buy the really fine type, it will get sucked in by pumps, and it would really suck. As far as reflection, there is little if any noticeable effect. Nothing that would matter to corals or other animals. It still sand, nothing more than that...
