RO unit enough?

Asked a friend working with the water company. He boasts out tap water is top notch and I only need a sediment filter to remove detritus from the super old pipe.

Any ideas about whether ro alone will be sufficient? Please chime in.

a sediment filter is not an ro unit. the water with a sediment filter is ok for home use not for a reef tank, and i still wouldn't drink it.
do your self a big favor and avoid future problems, buy an ro/di, its a vital piece of equipment for a reef tank.

I've been using tap water with prime for both of my reefs, they're doing fine. Getting 3-4 polyps of zoas weekly from my mini colonies. Gonna pick up a water system soon though.

Get an rodi unit. There are chemicals and other garbage in our drinking water that you do not want in your tank.

I'm gonna keep some more sensitive critters like sps and ritteri

Then definitely get one, my tanks are softies and LPS, when I do get an RO/DI, I'm gonna look into SPS.
