HeyGuys, new to the site wanted to say hello. I run a 29gallon setup with a Aquamaxx HOB 1, eheim 1751 canister with about 35# LR and have an angler, fox face and a lion in their with a cleanup crew. I inherited from a retired reefer, needless to say it has been a slow long process to fix the neglect to the tank. Nitrate and Phos numbers were off the chart, after doing every other day 30% wc's I have been getting the levels down. I have been running phosban in a reactor for last week and added chemi pure elite to canister, besides vacuuming sand beds anything else I should be doing to get those levels down?

Also, I have been going to Fishtown :irked: never seen an operation like this, what a mess so overpriced and no one wants to help. Live in the the Bayside area was wondering if someone could tell me another spot.

Thank you for the help!
John

John, welcome to MR.

Tough post for your first post. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your tank is seriously overstocked for a 29g with those three fish. Those fish are big eaters (well the angler and lion anyway) and therefore produce a lot of waste keeping your NO3 and PO4 elevated.

You might have more success if you add a protein skimmer to your filtration. Most hobbyists abandon the canister filter and use live rock and the skimmer exclusively. Not that it cannot be done the way you're doing it, but it is less stable IMO.

Best of luck,
Russ

ooo boy lol...yea thought that might be the case. I rescued the tank over a month ago so i'm not for the full blame. Russ, appreciate the help just trying to learn.

Well I have a fox face and an angler up for trade. Let me know what you have. Fox face looks good and angler is a female with the big antenna...
