Help! what test kits to use?

whats the best test kits to check each thing?? There is so many people and so many different answers. What do you use and how long have you used for?

like for

CAL

MAG

Nitrate

PHOS

DKH

PH

please help, I would like to buy some new test kits and want some input before i go ahead and pull the trigger on anything. There is so many people and so many different answers. What do you use and how long have you used for?

ok i have been using theses for the last 2 years my big tank was runing. cal, mag, dkh red sea works good and a nice price when you but the kit with all 3 in it. nitrate elos love the low lvl accuracy. ph salifert. phos i dont bother testing

I use Red Sea for everything except for phosphate which I use a Hanna low range colorimeter (not the checker which is a COMPLETE POS)

Salifert Cal, Mg, Ph, 7 years
Red Sea kits have both but not a big fan..... 2 years

I have been using Red Sea for two years and happy until recently.
I had a problem with the reagent it is supposed to be RED and mine turned Orange?
I called Red Sea and they sent a replacement ok great but now I'm out of reagent again and have purchased another test kit that turned Orange again?

As much as I love Red Sea's titrator
Think I'm going to switch to the tried and true Salifert

Mike I had the same problem with the red sea alk titrant. They sent me a new bottle but it has happened again.

Yes mine was with the Alk also but now I'm hearing they have a recall with their Ca reagent.:banghead:

Here are mine.

Cal/Akl/Mag - Red Sea pro (about 4 month)
Nitrate - API
pH - API and also my Apex probe
Phosphate - I do not test.

I personally like the equipment from the Red Sea pro kit but still prefer the Salifert solutions or titrants. I find the Red Sea, at least for me, difficult to distinguish the color changes to complete a test.

For Cal, Mag and Alk I don't thing you can go wrong with Red Sea or Salifert.

Rambler I have elos and have no clue what the results mean lol. Can u explain coz I think its European measurements or something strange

I always used and will continue to use salifert when I set up the new tank eventually. Never had any issues with them except for the numbers on the side of the syringe rubbing off. By the time that happened to me it was time for a new kit anyway.

Thanks guys, i think im gonna go ahead and order some salifert test kits for CAL, MAG, and hanna checker for ALK and PHOS, API for Nitrate.

All input is always best. Thanks, cause i always hear mixed reviews about all these test kits and i never know whats best.
