Meanwell driver help

Hi all,

I have an old DIY led fixture that I am trying to piece together. On one end of the mean well 640-48d driver are four wires and the other there are two.

The end with four wires I think I figured out- two goes to the lights on the heat sink and two goes to a dimming module. At least I think this is how it should be.

The other end only has two wires; a green and brown. I can't seem to find the power cord that I had. I have a standard 3 prong cord that I think I can use but that has three wires coming out from it. Should I be using a two prong adapter since the meanwell driver only has two power wires?

Any help is appreciated.

the one w/3 u have, got green (ground) , yes u can use, hook the green to the case.

Thanks. When you say hook the green to the case, you mean connect the the two meanwell wires to the two power wires and the green ground in the power cord should be connected to what case?

Sorry if I'm missing the obvious.

The wiring is.....

2 wire side: Blue: Neutral wire and Brown: Line wire
4 wire side: Red: V+, Black: V-, Blue: DIM+ and White: DIM-

Thanks. I will play around with it tomorrow again. Have up for tonight.

When I plug it in, I get nothing but few seconds after unplugging it, the lights come on for a second. I must have some wiring incorrectly.

I have a set of lights setup i was given that does the exact same thing....following.

Lnevo, I just found this documentation that may help. I think I figured out why my lights didn't light. It's because I didn't have a controller or dimmer module hooked up. If the dimmer wires aren't used, the lights won't light. I'll know for sure tomorrow.

Sorry i was out, u need 2 thinks, 10 V adap. + 10 K pot. ( i like better from Radio S)

Light fix. i call case, but just if u want.

u mean this driver ? than if u run 12 LED, u just fine.

According to the documentation you can hook the dimming wires to a battery to test. I've tried this to no avail. Maybe thats only for analog driver?

@lnevo - I just got mine to work using a 9v battery. I connected the blue dimming wire to positive on battery and white to negative. Lights came on immediately.

Does anyone know if you can hook up these rapid LEDs to plastic? I want to hook up about 6 LEDs to an existing fixture which is made of plastic. I don't have a piece of aluminum to attach it to.

I dont think u can, they gone warm up then burn, u need some heat sink , also more then 6 if u got 48 V.

Do not attach the LEDs direct to plastic, they will get hot enough to melt the plastic and pop; proper cooling is needed. The ELN drivers can run up to 14 LEDs so very doubtful you can add 6 LEDs to the existing driver.

Thanks. The plan was to use the driver to power 6 LEDs. But now I plan on having the driver power 10leds. 6 blues and 4 whites.

Not adding 6 more to the current payload. I found some aluminum that I will use to dissipate the heat.
