How long do you think you will need to keep them in the totes?

For the fish - you need to have 3 things..a heater..a source of air (an air pump & air stone) and a COVER over it.

For the corals..a heater, water circulation..a small pump like a maxi jet 400 or even a mini-jet..and depending on how long you are leaving them in there..a light if more than a day or so.

..and a bunch of extra SW :)

2 separate containers if u have 2 sets of equipment. If you plan on keeping them in the container for more than 2 days, use prime on the fish container to keep ammonia down. Corals you can leave them in there for a longer period without worrying about much as long as u provide them with stuff that kathy mentioned.

thanks for the help guys I'm gonna run three containers and some power heads i don't have any air pumps but i figure if i run the pumps so that the disturb the water it will get oxygen

Not a chance I would take with the fish. You can get a battery operated air pump in the fishing dept at Kmart (or somewhere similar) for about $8..well worth the investment.

You can run a maxijet across the surface of the water to provide decent oxygenation. In fact they come with everything you need to do that too. If you dont have one, it would be a really wise $20 investment.

A powerhead would he fine. The greater the height the water falls from the greater the oxygen levels will be. If you have a pump that you can connect a tube too you should cut a hole in the lid and put the end of the tube there. The pump will bring the water up and it will fall from lid height.

The amount of fish will also effect oxygen level. What fish are you putting in? If you have a decent amount of fish in both in size and numbers I wilk make a mini wet dry filter.

Use prime a couple of times a day.
