chloramines in our water ?

Just wondering if anyone knows if the water in tap water in long island contains chlorimines .? Also how many people use an r/o with a chlorimine filter .? I see bulk reef offers a few r/o sytems with the fliters on it it

I always use cloramine breakers.

here is how to tell fill a pail with RO and cover for 2-3 days. then drain the bucket. Do you smell ammonia .. cat piss .. that is cloramines breaking down to ammonia.

I have riverhead town water and I can tell when I need new filters by the smell I try not to wait that long.

What's funny is in NYC I can't find any info of chloramines being used however my ro container smells like this. :-/

I know 2 places in LI, Franklyn Square and Elmont, that have Chloramine in the water

Thats odd my brute smells like this but I called SCWA and they said no chloemines are used. I just thought that was the smell of the brute container

According to the yearly report I receive from LI American water..there are no chloramines in the water in Nassau.
No idea about localities who have their own water supply from elsewhere.

My brute can smells like cat pee after its emptied but not my buckets. Wonder why that is but im getting rid of the brute can

I've smelt that "cat piss" smell in the room I keep my brute pails. I thought one of my wife's cats sprayed in there. I guess it's a good thing I didn't kill it lol

I called the SCWA and they said no chloramines are used. If they ever do use it they will notify everyone in a letter

Charlie just call or write your local water district and by law they have to send you a water anaylsis, but just remember its at the source not at your house.

There is no need to worry about this in our area. If they use it and you have not been aware of it, you'd already have serious issues.
