okay guys i have a question for the group I'm thinking about putting a UV on my 220 reef tank and would like to know the pros and cons about doing this not personal opinions but more concrete advice as to why i should or shouldn't use one thanks guys and gals also what wattage should i use should i go that route

i used one for years, pro's pending the flow will help with keeping algea at bay and flow pending will help with disease control, plus water quality and clarity was phenominal. con's none other then more electic use and replacing the bulb. dont buy into that it kills good stuff also

personally wish i hadnt sold my 15w one but with way i built the aio i had no place to put it, aqua uv is the only company i reccomend for the uv's, call them tell them your needs and wants and expectations and they will reccomend the proper size unit, awesome customer support

Its all about the proper flow. Make sure you get a unit that lists the flow rate for a reef and not just an overall flow rate. The emperor aquatic units that BRS sells are a little more money but nice units. Should stay away from a wiper with salt water.
