I need to start up a clean up crew for a 75 gallon tank soon. Looking at a combo of astraea snails, nassarius snails, nerite snails, scarlet hermits and blue leg hermits. I know liveaquaria has some deals when buying them in bulk (dozens). Can anyone recommend other places or sites where I can get a good deal for this bunch?

Any suggestions on what to add to the CUC above?

Thanks

You are better off figuring out what you need and then see which deal is best for you. The sellers tend to sell you more than you need. You want critters to clean algae of the glass and rocks, those that will clean up excess food and detritus. And some sand stirrers. If you have coral that you feed you may want to keep away from hermits since they will take stuff from corals. If you order more than your tank can handle then some critters will starve. Or you can sell the extras on MR.

Just ordered a clean up crew for my 72 bowfront reefcleaners.org, they have recommended packages! Just look for your tank size in there chart! I went with a smaller tank size so my snails can stay busy and have plenty to eat!

I'm going with a combo of astreae, cerith, nerite and nassarius snails; I've found some good deals but can't seem to find anyone with scarlet hermit crabs. They've been much more peaceful in my nano tank than the other hermits i've had but are hard to find at a good price. I've seen them at stores for $4/each.

Anyone know where I can get like 20-30 of them for a better price?

if reef cleaners doesn't have them, my guess would be their out of season. call them or send an email.

It seems like they just got them in stock; they weren't there when I checked last week. They sell them for $3/each but require you to do express shipping for crabs which adds another $28 to the total. It ends up being more expensive than if I just get them in an LFS.

I'm gonna order a bunch of snails for now which they have great deals on then pick up a few scarlets here and there whenever I swing by a store. It may end up working out better since there won't be that much for them to feed on right from the start. I can keep adding them as needed

if you order a small cuc, its free shipping and you can add hermits to it if its express shipping.

Right. My order is over $50 with a snails CUC, so I get free priority shipping. In order to get free express shipping which is required for crabs, your order has to be over 175 which I'm nowhere near.

I like that they have copepods for sale as well though. Ordering them as well to start seeding my fuge.
