As for using paypal to buy fish and corals from private sellers it is pointless.

You can buy corals from a private seller and recieve empty plugs and paypal will not refund your money, paypal does not provide support on live goods sales.

You're making it sound as if selling through paypal is selling it through ebay. I'm not shipping the item. I thought I already explain my point. If someone is willing to pay me instantly through paypal(which is as good if not better as cash in hand) why would I wait for a guy who may back out or try to negotiate when he gets here. I wasn't implying you didn't have paypal. I was speaking in general. You asked a question as a buyer and i tried to answer as a seller or at least through my experience. If I've done business with the person before than I would be willing to hold as long as he/she wishes with cash in hand. Reputation is everything on a forum. Another piece of advice for newbies if you call dibs make sure you follow through. Because than someone like me won't be willing to hold something for you regardless if you call dibs or not.(not implying anything toward you vio)

Absolutely true....I'm only saying paypal as far as a means to guarantee a good deal

ADVICE

Aptasia---Do not use chemicals, lemon juice, boiling water or even the Mojano Wand. You will kill one at a time and its 100% guaranteed that you will be wasting your time. Use natural ways o control aptasia and other pest anemone

Flat Worms, RED and WHITE---if you dont want them then learn how to dip coral and rocks before adding them to your tank as well as other means of pest prevention.
If you already have flatworms learn what they eat if you dont have anything that they eat then all you have to do is syphon the worms out weekly basis. Try to find natural ways of controlling the population.

ADVICE

As nice as tang fish can be if you are setting up a small tank stay away from fish that will grow to the size of your hand and stick to fish meant for small tanks. You will enjoy your tank more and maybe avoid the dreadful "I must upgrade because bla bla bla bla"

Keep small fish in small tanks

The tank I have is average or below average.

It's a 200 gallon tank 48" wide
skimmer is reasonably priced
pumps are made by jebao
dosing pumps are I forget which brand but I purchased 4 and the store gave me a huge discount
sump is a 40 gallon fish tank
cooling is performed by two clip on fans
skimmer overflow is home made
Lights are generic brand

Some frags grow really fast and by that I mean like a centimeter per month at best, other frags grow really slow and by that I mean they look the same size as when I purchased them.



Some of the stuff on this thread I have experienced it, some of the stuff is from reading posts on different forums or seeing tank threads.

You must have a amazing tank with all the advise you giving

I?m not a newbie but, I don?t understand how people can be so dishonest when they try to sell you a coral that is already dyeing and they don?t even care to tell you. Just trying to get sell the coral and make $$

happens all of the time

ADVICE would be to research the coral that you intend to buy so that you can recognize what it should look like and never believe the "I just moved it because I was cleaning the tank" line.
