Coral Fanatics going the distance discussion

How many reefers limit themselves to travel to pickup corals in the borough they live in, stay in the 5 boroughs, tri-state or willing to really travel far to pickup corals from a reefer or vendor? Could be anyone including vendors outside of MR. Share your experiences.

I'll start with a guessing game... Bought several dozen corals online from a reputable vendor on eBay and contacted him to say I was in the area and wanted to see his reef system. Setup a date and time so I traveled down to Fort Lauderdale after my conference was over in Orlando, Florida to cherry pick corals. It was a 4 hour drive. Guess who was the eBay vendor?

Nope, i live by JFK and travel as far east as tropical aquarium and pets warehouse in copaigue regularly. I also travel to max reefs even when it was at its old location. I travel to jersey occasionally. Have ordered coral from ebay and also from members in cali on R2R....and to answer your question is it rnegret?

went all the way to PA to go pick up 1p of bloodshots. then to find out he has all highend acros and teased me cause i couldnt buy anything much cause it was all growing.

have ordered from a bunch of vendors on R2R, with no worries.

i travel to pets wearhouse on the REG. and AV sometimes too .


went to only one coral store in jersey. CRIS AT ACC was awesome. deff made the trip out to him Great got a nice little store.

If I need corals I just got to my 'friends' houses and come up with an excuse to make them stick their hands in the water and knock something over.

Yep, I stopped by Cornbred 's house to order more frags. Several weren't released on eBay at the time so I had first dibs on them. He had over 50 3G Mummy eyes frags that he was growing out at the time. Well worth the trip to see his setup with my own eyes.

Rob, the cost of gas and tolls probably cost more than the actual frag. But you saw stuff that got you thinking about what your tank could look like.

I go is pets wharehouse to buy cat food because they have a good selection of the brands my cats eat,which becomes a excuse to buy coral.. any longer of a ride in a car alone there better be a boat waiting.
