How to remove scratches from Starfire glass

Hello i just recently acquired and ELOS 160XL for a very good price but the tank has scratches in it that need to be removed as well as swirl marks. Can anyone suggest how to remove them, I had a professional come and give me a quote which wasnt bad but i am wondering if its possible to do it yourself or maybe someone here does it. Please let me know.

Ive heard people use cerium oxide to buff glass. As long as the scratch isn't deep and you can't catch it with your hand. For an Elos, I'd probably get it done by a professional but see what their guarantee is. Here's a site:

I'll be amazed if anyone can 'fix' any real scratches on starphire glass...

They can be fixed pretty easily if you have the right stuff and the hands that know how. If you got a fair estimate i'd say let them do it. If the scratch is deep enough cerium oxide won't be enough. You'll have to use sand paper first. Without the right tools and a trained hand and eye it's easy to put waves into the glass which will distort the view like a carnival mirror.

so i did some research and i found a great product called glassrenu its a 3 stage process to buffing out the scratches. I think i will go with it and try it out.
