if it is possible that they have a split in them u can <just be careful not to hit any flesh
Do not use a bone cutter. Those pieces have a tendency to crack. Saw only

Wet saw or bone cutters not to close to the polyps though! As far down as you can.

You can also use a dremel with a good cutting wheel on it. Have pics? We can help guide where you should cut.

To me it looks like you could cut in either of these 2 spots with a dremel. YouTube fragging torch coral. There is even someone doing it with a gold torch

I've cut torch (or was it frog swawn) corals right though the head (accidentally of course due to a crack) both ends grew out, though at a much smaller size.
