Keep it up. If you've used tap water for an extended period of time your tank is most likely saturdated with phosphates. It will take some time for all those phosphates to leach out of your rocks etc. Just keep up with the water changes each week. Keep running the reactor and make sure you change your RO/DI filters every 6 months.

You are using RO/DI right? Tap water is very high in phosphates. Other sources are flake foods and unrinsed frozen food. Some of the bottled additives like Kent's phyto thingy are also known to put phosphates into your tank.

it takes some time... also you can do some water changes if you like (check for phosphate in the new saltwater)...

also what type of tank do you have corals, inhibitants and what kind of food and how much are you feeding...

what kind of water are u using (rodi, tap, distilled)

what type of phosphate material are you using in the phosphate reactor and how much water do u have running throught the reactor... ;)

Well i do not have anything but snails in my tank i started my tank about 6 weeks ago and i started the tank with tap water. After that i put the live rock and sand in then i tested it and the phosphates are hight so i bought an RO system and changed 10% of my tanks water every 2 days for like 3 weeks and saw no change in posphate so i bought a phosphate reactor with phosban and have that running for about a week now and still no results in phosphate drop not even an inch

I started my tank with tap and it's taken me months to get my phosphate and cyano problems under control. If you can, put your snails in a holding tank for a little bit and do a 90% or better change. Once other stuff is in there you won't be able to do it.

If you're doing 50% water changes with 0 phospahte water yet your tank still has high phosphates then there's another source. I assume you're not feeding the snails, where did you get your rock from? It sounds like your rock or sand (or something) is leaching phosphates into your water.

Isn't this method a little indirect? Skimmer cannot skim phosphate by itself unless they are already inside some algae or something more tangible and then got skimmed out to the cup.

It is indirectly direct. He has phospates because he doesn't have a good way to export his wastes, read his tank profile. If you run some phosban to remove current Posphates and "Get a bigger skimmer" you will prevent phosphates from climbing in your system. Know what I'm saying?:splitspin

Are you having a major algae problem right now? I would get a diffrent brabd test kit just to be sure the readings are accurate. If I'm not mistaken, some test kits have a shelf life and will not be very accurate after it has expired.
