Skimmer Question

Hey guys... I finally upgraded my seaclown to a CPR BakPak and was wondering what my best bet for the pump was. I can use a MJ 900 a MJ 1200 or the Rio that it came with. I modded a MJ with a bioball for my seaclown and was wondering if that was my best bet for the pump still. Also, I'm guessing that the bio bale that came with it is not necessary, but I'm wondering if it hurts to leave it in as it does catch some extra bubbles. If it does hurt, will it hurt for a little while until I get the bubble trap accessory or something else to replace it. Thanks.

I've been using the Bak-Pak 2R+ for over two years and you really don't need the bubble trap. The bio bale is used for a non-reef tank.

Baby steps = more money outta ur pocket ...I know the seaclone was free, but the rest lol

Got this skimmer as a package with a bunch of other stuff, so it was basically free as well. Better to improve marginally when I can. Plus my next upgrade will have a sump, so I'd rather spend the cash on a really good sump skimmer when I upgrade.

Go with the MJ 1200.

If you want I have a ghetto surface skimmer I made for my old one. It just slides on the input of the mj. It's yours if I can find it.

Just a curious a question. How did you controll the microbubles from seaclone skimmer? I am batteling with that.

I'm not being sarcastic, but you get rid of the seaclown and your microbubbles will dissappear too...

Or you could do what Kris here did and get rid of your tank!

I modded it and it seemed to work better, but you could also attach a small mesh bag to the return. They have small bags for carbon and such that should work for you.
