Hi everyone,

I have been searching for LR on the internet and in the for sale section on this board.

Most of the vendors sell their LR per box (usually 50lb+). I have a 20g tank and probably 20lbs of LR is enough for it. So I am considering buy LR from my LFS.

There are three FSs in my area.
1. Fish Town USA
2. Northern Blvd Pet Store on Northern and Prince st
3. Main street Pet store

I've seen the LRs these three stores carry and I'm not very confident about the quality of the rock.

Can anyone give me some feedbacks on these three stores? in terms of quality of the product and professionalism of the business?

Thanks

Why don't you contact one of the vendors from the site and see what they can do for you before you go getting hit over the head for live rock at an LFS. They may actually have some rock in stock that they can sell you. Deepwater is close to you and House of fish makes city runs all the time.

I know Ronen (Deepwater) is, or did call to get rock... if he hasnt yet ya might be able to split a box with someone? or if ya missed that one, im sure other vendors on here have LR that you wouldnt have to get 50+Lbs. there used to be a site that rated LFS, but last time I checked it wasnt up.

bah, u guys are fast lol

Yeah, I know it has been suggested by people on this board.. splitting the box. I think its the kinda hassle, the pick up and all the communications.

well, you guys seem not recommending me buying rocks from LFS.

If that's the case, I will post a thread in want to buy section ask for someone to split the box with me

I've contacted Deep Water and he sells rocks by box ONLY.

BTW, how would you tell the quality of LRs? The color and smell?

Plz advice. Thanks

Dude (or dudette)....no disrespect but you seem to drift off or ask other questions not pertaining to the topic, after advice has been given.

I fully understand wanting to learn & wanting to do things right....but you really should make an effort in researching "SaltWater 101."

Here's a couple of links to help you get started:

(Leslie is popular:))

You can also get alot of the answers you are looking for by searching our forum.

You'll be asking numerous questions & the thing is........you will get numerous answers, as people have their own way of doing things.
There a few basic rules that you can follow, reading up on the links provided.

It would be so much better if can put all your questions in one post instead of making multiple threads.

Good luck.

Ok, thanks for the links.

BTW, is it against the rule here to post multiple threads on this board? If so, I would have to think one million questions all at once then post them in ONE thread..

Heee... I wish I know all the questions and issues that will come up in 10 yrs..

also, I apologize for asking questions like an idiot... Please ignore my threads from now on if you think my question is repetitive and stupid.

I appreciate all your help. No hard feelings... :smash:

There are a whole bunch of place online that sell by the pound.

Premiumaquatics.com
Marinedepotlive.com
ReeferMadness.com Nice rock here

Also instead of starting a bunch of new threads, why not just have one general threads to answer all your questions?

It's not against the rules, you can post as many threads as you want. It's just easier for everyone to help if you were to start a "Help 32Bit Fish" thread. You don't have to post all your questions at once. Everytime you think of something just post it up. Also it makes it easier for you to keep track of everything.

Don't take my post in the wrong context.
Sorry if you think my post translated to that.
If that's what I meant, I would have said it.;)

H20 is on Queens Blvd, in Elmhurst. I was there on Saturday, and there were several pieces that looked nice, with good coralline...$6.99/lb . They are very knowledgable, and very nice...they also give you a 10% if you are a member of Manhattan Reefs....Take care, Eric
