anyone have or had a reef devil deluxe that was modded or change ? if so what did you do and what part's ect ? i have one and i know some may not like them but this will be used for a max of 90 probably60-80. curious cause i have one, changing isnt a option at this point but mod's are :snail: . it will be used in either a 29g high ref or a 30 long was thinking of putting pump at over flow and use it as a real downdraft. wouldnt have to use as big of a pump either, have it go into main section . then flow through sand bed with lf and some dif macro with small compact or t8 i think{have these 2 already. then a return line. opinions thoughts anyone done this or how is your's set-up, and whats yoour total water count. ty rick

ok if this is a little simpler . does anyone have or had a reef devil deluxe skimmer ? if was it modded or did you mod it ?

That makes no sense.

But are you trying to ask if anyone has had a Reef Devil Deluxe that was modded in some way? Or are you trying to find out what modfications can be done to the skimmer??

Chris, thats TOOOO funny :lol2:

On page 3 of your last thread... something about crushed coral... I would be happy to help you. I will go to Peekskill with drill bits, silicone and acrylic. You need to provide the 1/4" glass. You have a skimmer suitable for a tank up to 65 gallons, including a very large sump/softies/LPS. Not anemones. Again, reefing is a privilege, not a right. I just said that you need something more efficient.
Reefing is more than glass, tank and "I want it to be as self sustainable as possible". Low maintenance is not cheap. A sub-standard tank is. As I give you more hope, your tank size grows. We are up to a 90 since I said you don't need a calcium and kalk reactor.
I will now go along with Kris. I'm done with you.

All,

Rick is a newbie that's trying as hard as he can to get as much information as he can to build a good reef. I appreciate that.

Rick, Chris is a seasoned reefer who will help you til the end of the earth. The most recent gestures from some of the membership (that I have read) are because it's difficult to get the exact question you are looking to have answered. Additionally, you nest questions within questions and that makes it hard to understand what you are really looking to get answered or could look as if you're confused about what reefing is all about.

These are just observations, not criticisms. I know you're well intended as is Chris - that being said:

- Read a whole lot more before you post or ask questions
- Ask pointed questions and/or search the site using the search feature to see if anything like that was discusssed before
- try to be organized with your questions/posts - it;s hard to keep track of otherwise.

Chris, as frustrating as it may be, better to not respond than to do so if frustrated. As you know the internet leaves tone at the curb and can be misinterpreted. We should do everything we can to keep that at a minimum where possible.

Back to Topic - Has anyone used a ETSS RD or done mods to one? or provide feedback on how well it works. Rick would like to know.

Jim, I have volunteered my help. Once someone starts a tank, I want success. I think Rick understands that I want him to succeed. Even Jasno999 realizes that. I'm just here to help out. I don't have all the answers. I probably don't have half of them. But I don't hide any. Ain't that right , Jim?
