Phosphate Remover

I am thinking about running phosban/rowaphos on my system in a reactor. I have a 65 gallon system, and would like something compact, preferably something that I can either place directly into my sump or hang off the side of the sump. Anybody have any opinons of the different reactors and media that are available.

A Phosban reactor with your preference of phosphate absorbing media. I use Phosban.

And how are the results? I was thinking to do exactly the same thing.

I have 2 running with the same pump as well. I bought a T from home depot and did it that way instead of piggy backing. I am going to add a third for carbon and will most likely T it again off one of the incoming lines.

Sure,

A "T" IMO, is a bad idea. Water will take the path of least resistance preventing good control over flow through your reactors. Place the carbon reactor first because carbon can handle more flow, place the out of the 1st reactor into the in of the second reactor. Place phosban or rowaphos in the second reactor. Use the ball valve included with the reactor on the inlet of the first reactor to fine tune the amount of flow. You want the phos media to "shimmy like an earthquake" but not tumble.

ouuu- I have a question about it too.... (highjack) our 4 week old sand is getting cyranobactria and our phospate leval is at .025.

So we went out and purchased a poly filter pad for the sump.
whadda ya guys think about that solution?

I used to waste my money on poly pads and phos pads before I switched to my current solution above, if that answers your question.

Fritz: I have my phosban reactors daisy-chained as well, but with a different setup. In your setup, wouldn't adding a valve after the carbon to restrict flow into the phosban, also restrict the flow exiting the carbon as well? In essence, your carbon isn't getting much more flow than the phosban.
