Thanks,

I've had the Emperor in the tank for about 8 months and the only coral I can't put in are zoo's. he doesn't bother any other coral in the tank yet. I also have a pink tail trigger in there, they get along well, i think the emperor in the king of the tank.

here's a picture at 5 months:

Question:

I'm almost done with my 125 FOWLR and I really would like to get an eel...[snowflake] I'm considering using eggcrate to cover the top openings on the tank. I hear so many horror stories with eel's getting out, do you believe the eggcrate should be good enough to keep him/her in. My wife will have a cow if she comes downstairs and see's a eel squirming on the floor:eek:

Bueller, my snowflake ended up living in the sump for 5 months after I got tired of fishing it out. It would actually go into the sump through the overflow. They will use the tiniest of holes to escape, so eggcrate is definitely not a good choice. I had full glass covers over my tank, and the other eel I lost was the chain link, and my girlfriends ribbon eels. The chain, and one of the ribbons was found on the floor. The other ribbon was rescued from the overflow box a few times, but eventually it went in the overflow when I was asleep. The only way to keep them in is, #1 tight fitting top, and #2 make sure they are big enough not to fit through any slits..Good luck.
PS. I currently have a banana eel. It can't fit through anything..pic in gallery.........

Hey Alex, yea it's been a month or two since I've been on the site...holidays, ect.... As you see I have the itch to finish this 125 and see how good your skimmer is...lol

I know I think the emperor is starting to turn more yellow....AWESOME!!!
I wonder how much longer before he totally changes. The good thing is if he gets to big for the 90 gal at least i can put him in the 125 downstairs.

Nice progress!!! Can we see more pictures of the canopy and stand:). Did you build them? any progress pictures while you were building them?

You need to cover the overflow boxes with either acrylic pieces or netting(like gutter guard), the eggcrate looks good enough to keep them from getting out thru the top.

as far as the lighting goes.....I REALLY want to go MH but don't see the need for all that electric for FOWLR I was thinking on going PC lighting- 4-96 watt. more then enough i think it would be about 3 watts per gallon, not that i need it....I DON"T KNOW what lighting would you do for the tank...I am open to all suggestions.

I drilled 2 holes on the cross braces and used plastic screws and wing nuts to hold the eggcrate down...Here's a few pictures.

I have two 5 foot T5 bulbs(80 watts each) on my 180 FOWLR, more than bright enough. I would go with two 48" T5 (54W each) and some icecap reflectors, you will be much happier paying less electricity.
