Everythings been up and running for over a month now and I've just been waiting to get the light set up. But it seems that the more I try to make this light work the farther I get from actually having it run. It's been 3 weeks since I've had the pendant and I've been searchin for the tempered glass. I got the glass only to find out it was too big, so I thought I could just get it cut. I come to find out today that they won't do it because its tempered and they risk shattering it.

What do I do with a useless pendant and a piece of glass thats double the size??...Any ideas or am I stuck putting out another $100+ for a 150watt Pendant?? Can't sell these cause they're useless to anyone...:(...Just had to type that out :(...

Hey Kris,

Which pendant do you have? maybe I have some lying around. The glass you need does not have to be tempered. Just UV blocking glass. glass places that sell windows will have them for cheap.

Just from my limited glass cutting experience.
I have cut tempered glass for my sump using one of those glass cutting kits from HD. Believe it or not they work quite well.
Obviously use some eye protection & leather gloves.

At least being tempered, should it shatter while cutting, the shards shouldn't have lots of sharp edges. I'm surprised the glass shop wouldn't try cutting it after you OK'd it understanding it could break. It's not quite the same as drilling it (you can't), yet not every piece of tempered glass is custom cut to size before the tempering process.

How is he going to hang the glass by wire? Drill 4 small holes at the corners to tie the wire through? Take Grisha up on the offer. Now, what are your plans to holding the glass in place again?:fishhit:

he's not hanging the glass:headache: no holes need to be drilled:rolleyes:. he can place the glass under the fixture and wrap wire around the two ends. that will hold it in place. i was just offering a qiuck solution while he figures out what he wants to do.

Kris,

I would look to somehow secure the glass to the fixture if possible and hang the fixture.

If it helps the cause to get this freaking thing off the ground so we can SEE PICTURES - I have a DE pendant with coralvue 20k bulb in it that has about 4 months burn on it that you can borrow. Just let me know if that is something you'd consider.

it's a 250w halide.

Get it done!
