Well I just got enough ph calibration fluid for the rest of my life I think, now how do I use it?

Do I rip open the packet and put the probe in or do I have to dilute it in water first?

It came from Premium Aquatics it was the reefs dot org special for 2 bux you got a boat load LOL I bought 10 bux worth.

Anyway, Help please.

Oh and am I supposed to take the rubber cap off of the end of the probe as well?

I just did this yesterday. Take the cap off, rinse the probe in lukewarm water. Use the pH 7 fluid first, dipping the probe in the package and adjust the screw until it reads 7. Rinse the probe again, Then use the 10 or 4 fluid the same way. You'll need to go back and forth between the 2, rinsing between each, until they read perfectly each time. The monitor sometimes takes a minute to adjust, so don't adjust the screw until the number stabilizes.

glad to see you used the powerbuy

pull the cap off. then go to the ph calibration setting on your RK2. it'll ask you to dunk the probe into the 7 ph stuff. keep it there till the number stabilizes and then push thte button. now swish the probe in clean ro water. you'll them be prompted to do the same for th 10 ph fluid.

OK doing something wrong here I think, here is what I did:

Popped the cap on the probe and cleaned it in some RO and a fine cloth.
Set the RK2 to calibrate and then placed the probe in the 7 solution left it there for 5 mins then to the 10 solution also 5 mins, PH reads 6.8.

Tested with my test kit ph reads 8.2.

Did the same calibration as above and ph reads 7.4
Kit reads 8.0
Confused.

Brendan, FWIW I'm pretty sure that PH calibration fluids have a relatively short shelf life, maybe a year tops for the 10 and two years for the 7. I have a Pinpoint so can't help you with the calibration. Good luck.
