Zero liability
Coral given back approx. same size as originally 'baby sat'
Growth remains with 'baby sitter'
Zero liability

Fish and clams are obviously a different fragging story. Zero liability.

BTW, did I mention zero liability. The baby sitter is not only taking care of these corals out of the goodness of their heart, but also spending money on supplements (they do get used up more with a heavier coral bio-load).

Oh yeah, zero liability.

this is a good overall idea of a way to layout it out to some1 who is doing this for you...i think tho it should be spoken over and agreed to before transfer of livestock...we all want to be friends to each other and do favors when we can, but too often it turns bad...

Do your best Mike, **** dies, and **** happens. Unless you are holding large colonies for someone for x amount of time, they are your corals. If you really don't know what to do just ask the person.

Not to bash but butthead spykes was buying corals a year before he setup his tank...LOL

tyty i deserve it. There is also one problem. If someone doesnt wanna do it or has an expected time for the coral to be out of the tank. Please tell the person in advance you just dont want to do it.

okay what if the set time table is lets say 1 year.now the person returns 11 1/2 months later.in that time the babysitter upgraded bought a larger tank and is now attached to fish and coral.i say sell the fish and coral to babysitter with the knowledge that when the owner returns he gets to buy them back at same price so there is no hard feelings if something dies or if the babysitter gets attached he will get to keep them.

Not for nothing Duke, but if I am paying the person who needs the corals/fish babysat for that kind of time period, I'm not giving them back a year later, after spending money on food, electric, and the energy I've put into taking care of them for the same amount of money, to end up with no part of them. Sounds more like renting corals...
I believe anyone (nothing personal Spykes!) who asks someone to babysit for that period of time ought to flat out be selling their stuff. The sale can always be made at a slightly reduced price (or not) based on getting frags returned to them when they come back to the hobby.

For the most part we are looking at much shorter periods of time and just a few pieces that someone might be babysitting and the offer of a frag of the piece or something else suitable (or that the sitter likes more than what they're watching) for thier tank would be a nice gesture.
