Here are the latest pix from my 12g jbj nano.
Thanks for all the help from everyone here on MR! This is my first attempt at keeping corals, and I am still learning everyday. Thanks also to Strendo for the last minute hookup! If you have an advice or see any mistakes I am making please help a brutha out.

I see a HUGE mistake Dj.:bigeyes2: That conch & the sea shell don't belong there. They belong on my porch along with the rest of my collection.

Thanks Everyone for the feedback (I am glad that everyone seems to like the tank, and didnt find any screw ups.... so far lol). I still have a few more additions that I would like to add to the tank. I want to seed more Zoa frags all over and add a Big Frogspawn or bubble to the front of the tank.

Awi I hand picked that conch off the beach in the Dominican Republic so HANDS OFF!:fishhit: But maybe if you are lucky I'll try and find you a new one that you can call your own. When you gonna come out east and check out some of the L.I. stores?

tank

it looks great, reminds me of my 6 gallon.
Good luck with it.....

CAreful with the mushrooms, when they will grow out, they might start killing things and u dont want that...Thats y i desided not to have mushrooms in my nano....
Correct me if I am wrong of course.... :)

Do u dose anything, U have a nice bloom of purple algae?
the reason y i ask is that i see that u have tried to grow sps in the nano but it wasnt a success....
I have digitatas in my 6 gallon nano but they are just there, not much growth from them.

Now there you have it. You JUST mentioned a big frogspawn or bubble coral. Those are two aggressive corals. They both send out nematocysts, with the bubble being the more aggressive of the two. In a small tank like that, I'd avoid AT LEAST the bubble. A small frogspawn you might get away with until it starts stinging other corals.

I didnt even think about the mushrooms becoming overly aggressive, I guess if I find them becoming a problem down the road i'm sure i'll have to deal with it (they go great with pizza lol)

I have been dosing the tank with calcium pellets and purple up, but I doubt that I can take credit for that growth. The tank is still very new. When I see Coraline growing on the back wall of the tank i'll know for sur I had something to do with it.

Damn. I really love those corals. I was aware that the Frogspawn was aggressive, but I figured if I put it on the sandbed in the front of the tank and it wasnt touching anything it might be ok. I just love the way they look. I would love to have something that my clown could interact with also. But I guess keeping such a small tank has its limits.

Ok first the good things I notice: the tank looks great
now the bad thing I notice: I see that your tank is located directly near the AC and looks like the flow of air hits the tank from the picture. I would just be care in the dramatic change in temp when you have the AC on. I also didnt notice a heater in there. Do you have one? Otherwise, everything is fine. keep up the good work. and happy reefkeeping

The AC actually cant bend downward, so the air has no choice but to fly over the tank. Sometimes I actually wish it did hit the tank tho cause it gets hot in there sometimes. Lately I have a llarge fan that I have blowing on the tank during the day while I am at work, and it seems to be working out ok. I dont have a heater in there yet, cause I havent needed one yet. I am looking into some now for the winter, I hear that the titanium ones are pretty sweet.

I was only trying to help you out.:biglaugh: Didn't want you to be shamed in any way.

Nice, I don't have a Dominican conch. Puerto Rican, and Floridians are all I have.:flower:

I've been to Country Critters, and Pet Warehouse what other is there?
