Scam or not....
We spend $$$ regardless. I have seen people use regular mud (not miracle mud) and they say that its replenishing minerals to their tanks. Do I believe them.....I dont know...

U best shot is to buy regular reef mud for like $20 And do half sand half mud in u sump...

Dont wast your money for this reason. I had it and didnt see anything diff then the sand I have in there now.
