3 things -

I would use a slip to thread bulkhead - in the event something goes wrong, you can cut the durso off unscrew the Threaded male adapter and do it again without having to buy a new bulkhead - once you glue it, it's over.

The strainer is threaded (I assume you knew that) and it should be slip

The schedule 80 PVC is NOT black - it's battleship grey. The Barb is also grey.

I would use a street ell on the inside between the bulkhead and strainer, you don't need a 1" pipe to joint the ell to the bulk head, making the plumbing inside of your display tank slightly "slimmer".

Do you realize this external durso contraption will put the back of the tank at least 6 inches away from the wall?

House, noted. Thank you.

I like this idea, please explain the difference.

Street ell don't need another piece PVC pipe to connect to the bulkhead, it looks like this:

It will place the strainer closer to the back of the tank.

Thanks Matt, but I had already placed the order.

The rest of the plumbing pieces came today & I fitted everything together. Looks like it's gonna work great.

I shaved the bulkhead & the Tee piece for the Durso down so that there is only a need for about 3" clearance behind the tank to the wall

Had to go up the street to get a 45 deg elbow but after that everything pieced together nicely

Now all that's left to do is drill the tank & hook it all up, hopefully the diamond hole saws will come tomorrow.

I plan on running about 2-3" of sand, some LR rubble & Chaeto in the fuge (middle) area, lit by one of these 5100K bulbs. I plan on running a reverse lighting cycle on the fuge. If anyone has any Chaeto they're willing to spare, I would really appreciate it! I would love it it came with pods, as my current pod population is 1.
