Internal Overflows

I wanted to get some suggestions on internal overflow designs. I still haven't gotten around to checking out the bottom of my tank to see if it's tempered. How much better is it to have the bottom drilled rather than the bank pane? Also should I do two overflows on a standard 90 gal?

i recall somthing i read on RC along the lines of the guy cutting a 6" PVC in half, cutting teeth in it and painting it black then just silicone it against the tank. dunno if that helps

That sounds like a great idea. What kind of paint is safe to use?

You can use krylon paint for plastic. I've used it before with out any problems. It can be found at pearl paint and kmart on 34th and 7th.

Flawed concept. How do you clean the detritus, bubble algae, hair algae. etc. that WILL collect in there?

Sure, have you tried pricing out larger than 6" PVC? :lol2: I think a AGA overflow will be cheaper, or have one of the acrylic vendors here make you a better looking one for about the same price. And how do you plan to split a PVC pipe straight enough to use it as a overflow, have a table saw with a large jig?

I'm sure that having one made would be the way to go. The PVC idea is creative though, however as cali pointed out is impractical. The pre-made overflows I've found online seem awfully expensive. Does anyone have recommendations on vendors or sites?
