MR Roadtrips.

what do u guys think about having MR Roadtrips to places descently close to NY? I was recently talking to someone about taking a ride down to Dr. Mac's place (Pacific East Aquaculture) and other people about the fish store in PA (forgot the name). One of the things that came up in the convo with it was getting a group of MR members and maybe making a day trip down somewhere to visit. We've already had a few group trips down to Greenwich Aquaria and i'm sure others have done group trips to other places.

I think it would be fun having more events on the boards other than the 2 frag swaps that MR has all year round. Thinking if the ride is long enough maybe renting a bus to get everyone there.

Just some thoughts.

Tony, a nice trip would be to the Baltimore Aquarium for an evening there and dinner and on the way back, something like That Fish Place or Dr. Macs

Actually Jims recommendation hit the nail on the head. Exactly the type of thing i was thinking when i wrote it.

This is just to get some thoughts and peoples view on it.

If ya have any recommendations would be great. POST THEM UP!

Thinking about a month after Xmas. Gives ample time after the swap and holidays. So, around feb? or sooner, before the swap? Thanksgiving is coming up, then the swap, then xmas and new years so its crazy for alot of people.

Its up to everyone. I'm just throwing idea's out there. Let the community know what you guys want and i'll help in getting the ball rolling on this somehow.

I really think a few minivans would work out just fine - typically, with these events, everyone is game and in the end, only a handful make it.

I have a van that can fit 6 adults comfortably and is not that bad on gas. In the end that will all be cheaper and we can make a day trip of it or stay overnight. If we had 2 vans, that would be 12 people in total - I'd be surprised and equally as excited if it went over 10.

Why don't we plan something - I like the Hidden reef idea, but Dr Mac and the aquarium isn't bad either and with the winter upon us soon, the rates would be reasonable.

Tony, why don't you do a survey of weekends that people would like to go? Also, maybe everyone who is going should buy their tickets or pitch in for gas $ in advance. People are more likely to carefully consider their availability if they have to $$ up front.
