Ok for the first time in probably a year i checked my levels. Ca is over 500. Alk is 16DKH and MG is 1500+. I dont have much in the way of corals. Just a few leathers and capnella and some mushrooms. My water changes are admiditly few and far between. However i did do a 60 gallon water change 2 weeks ago. My total volume is around 200 gallons of water. How can i bring these levels down to what there supposed to be? I know i have 0 demand for calcium in my tank. I was quite surprized at the readings. Thanks for the help!

Dude,
Are you sure that your test kits are accurate and not expired :lol2:

Only thing that I see if your using Oceanic salt, is that your Ca is on cue. (Oceanic mixes to about 550ppm @ 1.025 SG. Still doesn't explain the Mg or Alk. I use a kalk reactor in my fowlr system to keep the PH up since there is no Ca reactor and that is exactly what it does but my ALK slowly goes down and not up.

OT: Can I leave the garbage bins in the last spot behind the gates as a pemanent thing?

Ok i guess i dont. The only thing i do is dose kalk in my top off water. I wasnt sure if everything was too high and that it wouldnt be good.

Don't dose so much kalk if you want those parameters down. Your adding quite a bit of calcium and alk for things that don't use it.
Tone down the dosing and test regularly to find your happy medium.
