if you need to add calcium, you will also need to supplement alkalinity as well. Use a balanced two part additive such as Bionic. Items such as Purple Up only supplement calcium and add contain other trace elements (iodine) that you don't necessarily need to supplement.

I use 2 part, and a mg sup but very rarely. My WC's keep everything good for the most part.

I have 275 total volume and "dose up" B-Ionic after water changes but use a reactor to keep it stable.

One note, though, DON"T ADD ANYTHING UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO TEST FOR IT.

depends on your tank size....if under a 100g, you can use b-ionic 2 part, if your over 100g, then i would get a cal reactor
