I just hooked up my OCTOPUS int-ps 200 with a venturi mod and its doing great (already a 1/4 of a huge skimmer container from my 54 in a day). I just received a mesh mod kit from an online sourse and im wondering if I should do the MOD.

Its running great, bubbles seem tiny and wonder if it would really boost performance.

Any thoughts?

i had one on my sedra and it worked real well but the pump crapped out(thinking it was the extra stress on the pump from the mesh, but im no expert)....when i switched back to the pins, i wasn't as unhappy as i thought i was going to be, have not noticed less skimmate since switching back

BTW what size tank are you running this on, i was thinking of getting the same skimmer for my 75, you think it will be a good fit?

It would be a great fit, i am thrilled with this product. The original venturi SUCKSS! and a mod is must, but its so easy and LEO from H20 does it with all his skimmers he sells. I just finished doing the mesh mod, and already I have to keep the riser tube all the way down, and the bubbles are undestinguishably fine. I know this migh lessen the life of the pump but if it keeps my tank extra clean for 6 months than the extra 50$ for a replacement pump I can deal with, knowing how much we all dump into out tanks.

Im running it on a 54, Its a bit overkill but love the extra confidence when I stock and feed It will kick ass on a 75 with the venturi mod. BTW the footprint dimensions they give are not exact because they dont count the riser tube and as a result I had to get a rubbermaid tub as a sump and broke my glass sump trying to jam it in like a fool.

Rich, I applied no scientific experiment, but the effects were dramatic. Water is already much higher in the neck and the riser tube is almost all the way down. When I began the mod operations, the riser was all the way up and water level was below the neck, these two mods are a MUST DO with this skimmer, night and day difference

Here are some pics I just took, the entire collection cup is from this morning till now, from my currently lightly stocked 54, and the white tube is the venturi, and note the light I installed in the cabinet to make messing around in their a little easier

i like my fishing string mod better, no extra noise and nothing rubbing. used both on same skimmer and fishing string is working better. the mesh definately does more than just the needle wheel though
