I went all the way downtown to the Battery this morning to renew my Captain's lisence, and they are closed on Fridays. Who would have thought that the Coast Guard closes on Friday
Rich, how do you carry the amount of gas that you need, and pump it in the boat? I filled up 1/4 tank-60 gallons yesterday (what a beeeotch) so how do you easily get large amounts of gas to the boat do they sell big gas caddies on wheels or something? Gas is 4.25 now at the gas docks and even trips in the bay are beginning to be expensive Once we start fishing outside making longer runs it's going to really hurt.
But in any case I will still make the runs and fish but try to cut back on other expenses. But saving 30 cents a gallon on fuel will really help.
Evan I have 30 gal fuel caddy's that I strap to a small hand truck. Lift it on the gunwale and open the lever and vent cap. It's a PITA but worth the savings sometimes.
I haven't had to fuel up the Mako CC yet. It has a 300 gal tank that I topped before the winter and I'm still running on that fuel. You're out on your boat more than me Your boat is looking great. What power do you have? Approx how much do you burn at cruising speed? The Mako sucks a lot of fuel if I run hard.
Rich,
thanks I will look into getting some caddies for fuel.
This week I was out alot, no school+nice weather+good fishing so I took advantage from now on itll be mondays, thursdays, sundays till school ends.
Power- I have twin 200 yamaha 2 strokes that enjoy gulping gas. According to the Yamaha fuel management system running @25 knots 3600 RPM's I burn 16gph. At 30 knts 4000 RPM's I burn 20 Gph. Lately I have been just planing it off and running slower to conserve, unless I get a call lol
Your boat also is looking sweet alittle darker to keep the fleet from spotting you lol (didnt work today that must be a pain)
