Also we don't expensive wines anymore. I have a few nice wine bottles we keep around the house and we just stick to these favorites.
you can talk to your local wine shop and ask for a discount, most stores will offer a standard 10-15% discount on a case purchase of wine.

I now brown bag it to work on days where lunch isn't provided. I stopped checking the LFSs every week to save gas and have cut back on coral purchases. Our house is all ready about as "green" as it can get without installing solar panels. We plan on moving in a few years so I didn't see the point in going solar for this home.

I think solar panels are definitely worth the heft price tag. Not only are you saving money, you are saving the environment. If you were to build a new house, solar panels are a must.

Chief - you can't be happy about that?!? Can you?

I'd say that right now I just worry more. I have always comparison shopped - but now I've been getting very creative with the food in the house.... I go shopping for food less often, so my sister noticed I've got less food in the house... there's always enough for the kids of what they like - so the bad answer is, I eat less :(

and I've put off a few purchases I thought I could make this month.

Tahl I am never happy to work. But because of things getting busy, it makes overtime for me which makes life better because there is more money coming in.

I always leaned toward sale items but even more now. The prices in the supermarket are over the top unless you buy on sale. When it's a great price, I buy extra now and will go to the 2nd supermarket across the street to take advanage of their sale items also.

I also switched from Cablevision to Fios and that will save me about 40 a month, not much, but it's something!

Nothing changes for me. I've always been cheap.

I've always made sure in the past to pay myself first. You would be amazed how easy it is to save 25% of your post-tax paycheck and still live a normal life.

Although I'm seriously thinking about quitting the marlboros. $8.00-$9.00 :irked:

Shortening the light cycle on the tank: keeps the house cooler, and the electricity bill lower.

Driving as little as possible.

Cooking more, rather than going out.

LOTS and LOTS of comparison shopping.

Thinking further ahead - I am starting a FW tank, had funds allocated from way before (thankfully). Now, wouldn't even consider something like that.

Less traveling, which really sucks. Again, thankfully, some vacations were already planned and payed for before the fares/hotel rates went up.

Steven, as sexy as that billboad guy is, there are lots of reasons to quit the Marlboros :) We love you!!! Don't smoke!! Please.....

As the recession continues...Even though my job sucks, it pays well so I am going to keep working like a maniac even though I had plans to slow down.

Yeah, I keep trying to plan a vacation. First it was the exchange rate that kept me from booking things now it is the airfare. Friends just went home to London $1100. That ticket used to be between four and six hundred dollars. Airfare to visit my family is now up to $450 when it used to be $200.

Also, Jer and I have decided to eat out less. We fell into the habit dining out just because we didn't want to cook - even going to the same restaurant three nights a week. It's more fun when it is something to look forward to and you pick different places. Hopefully this will also help with our pot bellies.

Ordering in costs about the same as buying groceries and cooking so we get to keep doing this! :)
