This is not a debate about what caused it or how to fix it:splitspin. Just a friendly thread about how you are dealing with it:inlove:.

When I started to think about how it is impacting me, it reconfirmed how very fortunate and maybe a little shallow I am:eek:.

I am actually comparing prices at the grocery store when before, prices were barely even considered.

Also, I have stopped buying european designer clothes and accessories made with italian leather because the exchange rate has made the prices go sky high. Lissa was reminding me that my tag line used to be, "Prada doesn't sell fish :-(." Now, I will be buying my fish at the Gap.:tongue1: I am sure that other more realistic life style changes will follow.:fish:

What is everyone else doing to make it through this economic cycle?

My new sport bike (07 Ninja 6R) is actually turning into a commuter bike lol ...

Also unfortunately 2yrs ago I used to travel everywhere with Kuyamark on here to get corals from sellers and now I stay as local as I can ...

I also plan on working more throughout the year to have that extra income coming in especially when you see cereal is $6 and cheese is almost as high, heck even orange juice when up.

On a side note-I also heard that the airliners will be following in continental i think it was (the news story i watched) footsteps of charging people to check there bags because of the rising gas prices for airplanes ... i think it was something like an extra $80 round trip, not that, that would be major but its enough to start thinking about traveling that way for vacations etc.

it hasnt really affected me much other than my stocks dropping but thats a long term investment, just means it's time to buy more while it's cheap. My car is pretty fuel efficient. Food costs havn't gone up too much it's just my wife and I no kids, so we don't go through alot of food.

I've started buying groceries instead of ordering out so much. Also we don't expensive wines anymore. I have a few nice wine bottles we keep around the house and we just stick to these favorites.

Also, switching our lightbulbs over to those "green" bulbs lowered our electrical expense by $50 per month.

ive always been broke so no change for me

Not too many really broke people have reef tanks  I remember being so poor my first year after college that I had a few dollars and a can of diced tomatoes to last the 3 days until payday. I think I bought beer with the money :biglaugh:

Yeah, Jer switched us over too. At first, it freaked me out because it takes the light a few seconds to turn on.

I use Peapod to deliver my groceries. It stopped all my grocery impulse buys and they accept coupons too. So I no longer just toss random things in the cart that noone really eats or needs to eat.

Not to mention they bring the groceries in the house and the delivery charge is less than the gas I spend getting to the store anyways. It also saves me about three hours a week that I can put to a different use now. :)

Eating at home more often. Food cost is about 90% of my expense right now.

Leslie, I remember one weekend I ate ketchup and crackers, kinda like Tom Hanks in the movie "The Terminal."

I've not changed anything yet, but now you guys are freaking me out.

I guess I'll stop giving ink gas money for his boat.
