Heat Wave.. Chiiler...

Just got home, and it was hot.. And I check my tank water, :Yikes: My water was a 95, and I check on my tank.. Damn my cleaner shrimp was dead, and missing blenny, and missing two fire fish.... Now I better get a chiller quick.
Since I have a 30 Gallon tank.. And I am looking at this chiller.

What do you guys think? Or should I go with the 1/15??

Heaters and chillers are great pieces of equipment but a controller is the best thing to get to make them work properly. That being said That chiller looks ok for your needs.

the 1/15 is up to 50 gallon tank. you should be fine

I found that a frozen bottle of water ( .5L ) should lower 10 gallons of water 2 degrees. I think you should freeze a couple of bottles of water as a temporary fix.

i tried that back in teh days and it didnt crap, temp would still be a problem later in the day.

Make sure if you have a canopy to open any sources of ventiliation, even if it is an eye sore, bring in some fans, lower your photo period. 95 is crazy

Are you doing anything to help cool down the tank? Fans blowing across the surface of the water? Any A/C in the room where the tank is?
Frozen bottles of rodi water are helpful if you have enough of them. I used to keep 6 two litre bottles in the freezer and constantly swap them out 2 at a time.

Yes, get the chiller asap!

chiLLer or an AC mosT use ACs here... it cooLs both you and your tank

Yes I have ac, but Ac is not working probably.. Gotta get two ac, and in the market for two inwall ac.. and I just put a couple fan on top of the tank to blow off the heat.. and I am ordering the Current USA 1/10 chiller.. Hope this will help till I get my tank.
Also, I just out couple bottle of water in the freeze.. RO water? Why? Since I have the tap on tight, does it matter for it?? As long as I don't have those water in the tank?? Or I should use the RO water??

No need for ro/di if the cap is on the bottle.

Try a reverse light cycle until you get your chiller. Put lights on at night, or, just go without lights for three days. Your corals will not suffer. Storms at sea sometimes last longer than three days.

Plastic bottles are getting thinner & thinner these days..just for added safety in case the bottle cracks and the user doesn't notice it...IMO
I sure wouldn't want to introduce tap water into my tank by error, and you should only have to fill them up 1 time

Yes, it is always better to be safe and use RO water instead of tap water in case the bottle has cracked.

Just curious, would some of those cooler ice packs work? They have the blue gel inside them. I know they are usually covered in thick plastic, but you could always double wrap and they do get pretty cold.

Thanks swimmer, yes so far my light is off on the day time, and when I get home I will turn it on for couple hours or so.. till I get the chiller, which i already place the order this morning..

I placed a 12 inch fan and over the top of the uncovered fish tank. The evaporation will cool the tank down and a cheaper alternative to buying a chiller in bost cost and electric bill. Ice gel packs are good too for short term. But on a hot day, ice packs last an hour.

I guess everyone was ordering the chiller today.. Cuz they call me up today and told me the chiller were all sold out, and expect a shipment two weeks from now.. In the mean time I have to reply on my fan...
