I was thinking of starting a tank using some Dry Rock / Dry Sand mixed with some live rock I got from a MR member.

How long does it take for it to colonize? Does any one know of some good places to get some Dry Rock. I have looked at "Marco Rocks" but I did not want to pay for shipping. Is there any place closer?

I looked around when I set up my tank. Even with shipping Marco Rocks was cost effective when I needed 75lbs of rock.

Hm, Marco actually has pretty decent shipping costs. At least compared to other dry rock places I've looked at. 50lbs to my home is about $15 :) as compared to 2 other dry rock places that sh would have been $30+

Thanks. I think i will make an order. Now I just need to figure out what kinds to get. Shelf. hand picked...ect..

I was planning a 120gal so i should get about 200lb? The standard is 3lb/gal but that is probably if it is wet?
