Does anyone have this growing in their sump?

I havent found any info on it weather it is good or bad. Just wanted to know if anyone has this growing and their experience with it.

If you do have the red grape, a lot of your fish will like them.

I have a little bit of it, its very slow growing and can't possibly see why it would be considered bad.
Its in my jawfish tank, not in my sump.. theres no light in my sump.
Tangs will eat it.

Actually, you saw green grape covered with cyano.

kinda looks like it but it doesnt grow branch like.... its on some rock. I'll try to take a pic of it but it does kinda look like this....

Actually, you saw green grape covered with cyano.

No cyano in my tank.. It was actually bubble,, hard bubble algae covered in coraline,, purple coraline..

i have them. they seem to like to grow to a certain area, ie clinging on like barnacles. slow growers n easily scape off so not a big problem.

Valonia = bubble algae = bad

but as reefman stated, the are easy to remove & don't spread as much as common green bubble algae.

If you plan on removing it, do it out the tank to avoid bursting them & releasing spores.


My experience is...after I removed them, they eventually grew back on the frag it hitchhiked on.
I had to keep doing it, but it stay confined to that certain frag & never got out of control.
