I just bought an Bubble Master Skimmer used and its Kicks A#$, however it lets you know all the air its pulling and damn loud. My question is do they normally come with the silencer and mine being used just didnt have one?

Or is it a newer feature that I should purchase? (If so where?)

Thanks all

The first production models did not come with the silencer.
Mine wasn't loud, but most use the "RO tubing" Mod.

Just wondering - How much air lpm is it pulling?
I dont have the device to tell, put Ive had many skimmers (octopus ps 200, aqua c remora, Ams g1x, euroreef rs 80, coralife 125) and nothing pulls air like this one (the octopus is comprable after a bunch of mods but too big and pump runs hot and high electricity).

Iver seen threads saying it was tested at pullin around 45 SCFH, and 1250 lph

Devs thanks so much for all the pics they helped alot. Im gonna give greg a call and see if I can get one, because I rather not hurt the airflow too much with a bunch of contraptions

The silencer is pretty easy to make if you don't mind it looking ghetto.
Just use a small take out container, make a hole on either end and stick the tubing into 1 hole, then fill the container up with filter floss.
The air will come in through the other hole and sound will be muffled through the filter floss.

And my BM250 came with a silencer

no prob Jay.:)
If he doesn't have it in stock, he can order it for you.

Fernando:
If you notice in the pic, there is a short piece of black RO tubing placed into the standard ATI airline hose (which is pretty wide). The RO hose reduces the hole & restricts the size, which inturn creates finer bubbles.

But wouldn't you also be restricting the amount of air being able to be pulled in?

more air = better?

I would come to that conclusion too, but it works.:)
It also stabilizes the bubble formation & creates a more consistent foam.
Some use Deltec air valve's instead of the RO tubing for better adjustment.

I recommended this to Latino, maybe he will chime in.

Just want to make note that I am only speaking on the ATI BM160 skimmer.

hey guys,

DVS showed me this mod and it does work great . Since adding the ro line to the air intake I have been able to get the skimmer to work better (i had issue adjusting the skimmer). I get more bubbles and smaller at that... give it a try. If you don't like it.... all you have to do is pull the RO line off. Get ready to lower the bubble level with this mod. it will overflow if you don't..... at least in my case.

Im using the MOD with the RODI line in the venturi for a Quasi silencer, its definitly an improvement, however now the gate valve device is driving me crazy. Its seems to be a simple device but doesnt come up and down as easy as it should when considering the simple function. Overall I cant ask for more as far as waste removal and air pulling but for the price they should really look into these things
