Aptasia control

Already tried Peppermints which were a nice snack for my Mystery wrasse.Took a chance on it but lost a few bucks.Don't want to put Joe's Juice or dipping solutions in my tank.Copperbands are delicate and might eat my zoos which I don't have many of.A certain nameless LFS employee said that Copperbands are reef safe.How true is that?I'm sure I'll receive 100 different anwsers but that's ok.

copperbands are ALWAYS with caution no matter where they are caught


personally there are not many people with great success with them anyway if your gonna take your chance with a butterfly that will eat aptasia and chance your corals go with a easier and nicer butterfly

aparently there is a nudi that ONLY eats aptasia that someone posted a want to buy thread/group buy

Hey Zany, I had the same issue when I introduced new LR into my sytem, I had tons growing and had concerns bout the Copperband in my reef. I ended up picking one up, when I bought a product that kill aipstasia, but didn't.......I could tell you he hasnt picked at any of my corals but went to town on aipistasia and in 2 days there were no signs of it left. He is actually one of my favorite fish and always grabs the attention of anyone who walks into our living room! Hit or miss, but from my experience I have no issues!

i inject mine with 5 ml of 100% lemon juice i ve done it several times and it never effected anything else in my tank ....my tank is also a 90 gallon so that little of lemon juice might not effect the size of my tank ....so id say it depends on the size of your tank to put certain things in it

I tried copperband but it died in two days and never touched any aptasia. The aptasia eating nudis referred to are bhergia nudibranches. I believe they worked for Jabol. They are quite small and also expensive. I think they only eat the small aptasia. And then after they eat it all they starve to death. I use Joe's Juice but it seems they always come back. To me it is like gardening and pulling weeds - a constant battle.

I used an Auriga in my 125 gallon and it did the job. My 125 is fish only tho so I did not have to worry about him eating corals. He was around 7-8 inches and made quick work of the aiptasia infestation.

FWIW I also had a similar experience with the Copperbanded. I tried three times with the copperbanded and all refused to eat and died in a matter of days.

I would want to buy berghias. We can team up and share the shipping cost which doesn't change if you order up to like 50 of them! You need 2-3 per 10 gallons. As forthem starving to death, I was thinking of passing them over to the next member over here

I got a peppermint Shrimp from Petland of All places. It is Huge almost 3 Inches. So my Wrasse leaves it alone and the peppermint does his thing without being bothered by the wrasse.

I had 3 pepermints, but with no luck they didn't touch the aptasia, I've tried Joe's Juice but it's $$$ and they come back. I've been lucky with kalk, but as mentioned it is very much like gardening, apatais needs to be removed every now and then just like weeds:splitspin.

My copperband did eat the aiptasia... but he also ate my fan worms, although they've since grown their crowns back. After initially going through all their crowns he seemed to stop.

Unfortunately he only lasted a couple of months. A heatwave coupled with AC failure killed him and several other fish/corals.

We will try Berghia Nudibranch. So far there are three of us, which brings down the shipping to about $11 / person. The price of berghias is $15.00 / animal.
If we get at least one more person to join, the price of berghias will drop to $14 or below and the shipping will drop to about $9 per person. There is no minimum to order

i currently just picked up 2 and some eggs they have ate one piece of aptaisa already it looks like they hooked up again


If they breed successfully I will be glad to help people out I got them from a MR member Have to say these guys are bad a$$ hoping they do well I will post further news as time goes by
