Hi,

I am new to the board. I am very happy that I found the nyc reef community. I am fairly new to this expensive hobby. My tank is 110g, 4ft wide and 3.5ft tall.

Anyways, here are some pics of my tank. Can someone ID those zoas in the third pic?

Thanks,

Welcome to MR :)

They look like Fire & Ice to me as well.

I can't tell for sure from the pic, but if that round green coral is a plate coral, it is best placed on the sandbed and not on the rock work.

Folks,

Thanks for the warm welcomes!!! I just started this hobby about 6 months ago. I bought the tank setup w/ rocks, sand, a few fish, and equipment (no corals) from someone who already had it going for a couple of years.

I am not too sure about the equipment but I just discovered yesterday that I also have a UV sterilizer, as well. I know that I have a basic skimmer, pump, and wet/dry sump. I am not sure of the strength of or specs of all the equipment. I have the following lighting:

Current-USA
Model# 2034 - 65 watt Dual Daylight 6,700k/10,000k
21.25" x 1.75" x 1"
http://www.current-usa.com/repositor...L_6700-10k.jpg

Model# 2036 - 65 watt Dual Actinic 420nm/460nm (blue/purple)
21.25" x 1.75" x 1"
http://www.current-usa.com/repositor...20nm-460nm.jpg

I currently don't have a chiller and the temp ranges between 75-80. I want to get better lighting without having buy a chiller. I know that MH produces lots of heat. I was thinking about considering LEDs as a substitute?!? Any thoughts?

The center of the zoa in the 3rd pic is white. I've got 2 votes for fire and ice. I just did a search for fire and ice zoas and found that they are exactly what i have. Thanks guys!!

Also, should I put that green plate coral on the sand bed? Does it need a lot of light? I only concern for putting that plate on the sand bed is that the tank is taller than the average tank and it will not get enough lighting there. What are this risks if I keep it at the same place? It's been there for a month+ now.

Thanks,

The thought behind placing plate corals on the sandbed is they can't sustain tissue damage there as they will on rock work. Hard to believe but they can move around :)
Keep those pics coming!!
