I unplugged my return pump ( OR 2500 ) to do a water change and then plugged it back in. After 5 minutes it still hadn't restarted. Is this normal? I will be checking in a few minutes to see if its restarted yet.

nope didnt help. its not even warm or vibrating - which I would think it would be if something is in the impeller chamber.

I think I'll leave it unplugged and disconnect it and open it in the morning. its always something with this tank. on the bright side, i tried the tupperware tactic you suggested for mounting some softies and it worked for some xenia i was given.

My Octopus skimmer recirc pump does the same thing but it actually gets very warm so its probably not the same problem. I sent it in for repair once and its done it twice again since. I'll have to ask for a replacement. I hope that thats not the case with the return pump. What could have caused this? I have the grate piece on it so I cant imagine anything substantial could have gotten in.

So I unplug it and setup a vineagar soak and decide to clean out any gunk in the impeller chamber and the cover grate and out come a few tiny pieces of charcoal.:duh: I decide to plug it in and lo and behold it works like a charm. Kathy - your a mod right? Can you delete this thread before too many people read of my stupidity ?

Oh and tonite I at least remembered to turn off my faucet and disconnect the RO/DI. But of course I forget to turn the valve on the faucet connecter and when I turn it on to put some water in the bucket for the bath, I get a shower out of the nozzle on the adapter.

Nah...not that at all, you were searching for a solution and you found it!!:thrash:

.. this way the next person who has this issue has a better idea of what to do other than giving the pump a whack ;)

oh, and the shower thing...count me in, have done it many times! lol
