To the Handymen of MR: Powertool suggestion

I currently don't have any power tools (except for a drill) - I need to get a dremmel so I can frag these duncans/frogspawn/acans/etc..

I figure since I'm buying a powertool, I might as well buy something nice the first time around. I'm looking for something that will last me for sometime and that is flexible - but not overly pricey (if I can buy something that can be used for more than one thing, then that would be great).

Any suggestions? :tongueani

for multiple porposes like fragging then the dremel with a diamond crusted round blade would be ideal.....and it can also polish,drill wood,cut metal,etc....but it wont be able to do any big jobs...

There are a lot of tools out there. Can you narrow down the potential uses? A Dremel is really great for hobby work. You can't build a house with it. Nor can you build a stand with it.

a also suggest a dremel, there are alot of accessory and attachments you can add on to the unit, but make sure you get one w/ enough power 10.0+volts. min.

I have a Dremel, good all aroung tool, for heavier work go with a rotozip.

the dremel tools are usually for "hobby and crafts" and light stuff, you won't be able to cut lumber or anything light that. Lot of company s make the "dremel type" tool. But Dremel is the original maker of the tool. Here is the link to their web site:

Dont go with the cordless dremel. I have one and I am not happy with it. Go corded.

Sanding, cutting and sawing small hobbyist things are perfect for a Dremel. Yes, change the bit.

However, if you're talking about sanding, cutting and sawing 2 x 4's, plywood, etc. then you should be looking at DeWalt, Milwaukee, Porter Cable, Makita, even Craftsman. The problem is, you won't find one individual tool to do all the sanding, cutting and sawing. You'll need to identify what function you'll do most and get the tool that will handle that function.

i think people dont really understand question.you are looking for a good tool for this hobby not doing carpentery work right.a dremel is perfect.u can cut rock drill rock cutacrylic cut hoses and pvc.perfect.trust a do it yourself expert :lol2:

Great perspective.

I'm looking for a tool that is primarily for fragging, but has the flexibility to do SOME carpentry work. Understanding that a dremel is small, I don't expect to do a lot of carpentry with it... but I also don't want to use it exclusively for fragging.

Is there any dremmel that can operate as an EFFICIENT drill as well? I know most have this feature, but I was told the drills are kind of crappy. I would also love to kill two birds with one stone rather, than a dremmel and a drill

Conversely is there a drill that can do as well as a dremmel?
