Just opened a shipment of fairly expensive Zoanthids from a very reputable supplier. Found a big juicy Nudi. disposed of it and the Zoo's are now soaking.
A few questions, Is it worthwhile contacting the supplier ?? I mean, what can I get out of it, other than to warn them. Do you feel this is a tolerable situation that goes with the business. Risks that pests may come along ?

Also, I don't see anymore , nor do I see any egg sacks. I also do not have quarentine. What should I do. They are in a bucket with a drop of flatworm exit.

Thanks,

I would contact the seller and let them know, just in case you have more and you start to lose the zoas, they may also give you a credit or even send you something over it. Also it's good to let them know, as they mayn't know that they have them in their system, and so they don't sending them out to other people.

If they were wild caught it's something that does come with the territory, which is why you should check, treat and QT your corals.

What I usually do is put them in my sump and if after a week or so I don't see any Nudi I move the colony to my main tank.

That's good advice. Very good advice. That is exactly what I am going to do Marrone.
No Bob, I don't know if it was a good one. I had an infestation a long time ago so to me the only good Nudi is a dead one....
thanks,,,

Hi MrFirst ;-)
Could have been worse and it is a frequent situation, especially with Live Rock. These and other animals simply live their lives among corals, rock, etc..so when we bring home a coral, or live rock it is possible to bring also "hitchhikers" such as the crab meagheavz found ID this crab (

1 2)so you should not be surprised and please remember of not dispose of in local waters. The shop from where you bought it, could perhaps receive it, so instead of warning them, why not contact them to see if they could receive the nudi...
Chances of pests will always exist and to fight them you rely on quarantine which is what you already are doing in the bucket with a drop of flatworm exit. So about what you must do its as stated above

1st - Remove the nudi an call the shop to see if they can kindly help you by receiving the animal...they usually can...even if it is godzilla :)

2nd - Quarantine the coral just as you are doing.

3rd - Once the quarantine is done (depending on the product used, could be from 5 minutes to 30 minutes) place the coral into the tank and keep an eye on it for some days.

4th - Sit down and enjoy your new coral, relax (but don't forget to clean up the mess or the house authority will ground you :).

Cheers
Pedro Nuno ;-)

"Why am I soaking in FWE ? Because I was advised that it was a good thing to soak to get rid of Nudies.
Why did I post here ? So I could get more expert advice... Will take out of my sump tomorrow and try your method as well. thank you so much.
